Instagram Increases Time Limit for Uploaded Videos to 60 Seconds

Instagram, the popular media sharing app has increased the maximum time limit for user-shot or uploaded videos to up to 60 seconds instead of the current quarter-minute.

According to analysts, in the last six months, the total time people spent watching video on Instagram increased by more than 40 percent. Hence, this change was needed to address the growing demands of users.

Meanwhile, Instagram launched video ads in 2014 to increase revenue. Initially, the total video time was capped at 15-seconds with the company increasing the limit to 30 seconds in September.

Instagram hopes that with the recent increase of videos to 60 seconds, people will be able to upload unboxing videos of their gadgets including vacation captures.

Instagram has also added an ability to make videos out of multiple clips from your camera roll for iOS devices with version 7.19 and above.

Although Instagram has announced the roll out of longer videos, it will be available in a phased manner. This means it will take few days for the new feature to find place in your account.

While you can register for a free Instagram account over the web using your desktop computer, you can post photos and videos using either Android or iOS app.
