Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed e-rickshaws in his own constituency in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Modi is on a whirldwind visit to Varanasi to announce a wide range of new policies.
The e-rickshaws is provided to select beneficiaries to not only improve the working style but also to boost revenues for autorichshaw drivers.
Yesterday, Modi launched a scheme to provide free LPG to women who have BPL ration cards. This means all those women who are below poverty line will be eligible to obtain free LPG cylinders.
It remains to be seen whether Modi will be keen to implement the scheme in other parts of the country.
