WhatsApp video calling spotted in Android beta v2.16.80 on Play Store

If rumors are to be believed, WhatsApp beta for Android update v2.16.80 displays the voice calling feature. Available via the Google Play beta testing program, the WhatsApp interface doesn’t see any difference with the introduction of the video calling feature.

You will be able to access the video calling fature via the call button within a conversation. In the update, users are provided with a choice of either to choose audio or video call.

The message “Couldn’t place call. Video Calling is unavailable at this time.” will be displayed when you attempt to perform a video call. Even though both the caller and your desired receiver make use of v2.16.80, the message will be displayed.

There are rumors that the Video Calling feature will be introduced by the end of July. In the past, we have seen widespread rumors about the new feature but there was no concrete data available at that time.

Earlier, WhatsApp was updated with end-to-end encryption, document sharing, and text formatting with support for voicemail, call back, and zip file sharing.
