Xiaomi is reportedly manufacturing a small budget smartphone with a 4.3-inch display. Touted to compete with Apple iPhone SE, Xiaomi is expected to launch the Mi Note 2 phablet in addition to a 4.3-inch display. However, the company hasn’t revealed when the new smartphones will be released.
A post on Weibo reveals a 4.3-inch IPS display with HD resolution and will offer a Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor. Talking about specifications, the new smartphone from Xiaomi offers 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. According to rumors, the device will have a 2350mAh battery.
According to analysts, the launch of new smaller device by Xiaomi is seen as a direct competitor to iPhone SE, which is currently selling well in China. However, the sale is not as expected in India. Hence, Xiaomi wants to tap Indian market, where users prefer budget devices.
If rumors are to be believed, the new device will be priced at Rs. 18000, which is hal the price of Apple iPhone SE. Moreover, the display will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and will also feature a fingerprint sensor on the rear adjacent to the camera. This is interesting because normally fingerprint sensors are located below camera.
According to company sources, nearly 6 lakh units of Redmi Note 3 and Mi 5 phones are sold in India. We are eager to know when the company will launch the new small size smartphone in India.
