Apple not to refill Thunderbolt displays

Apple is currently working on a refreshed Thunderbolt Display, which will be released by the end of 2016. According to a statement issued by Apple, the currently available Thunderbolt Display will only be available till stock lasts but it will not make any production after the stock ends. This means Apple is reportedly discontinuing the Thunderbolt Display.

Apple revealed that the company will sell the Thunderbolt Display through its retail stores, official retailers including its official online store till stocks last. However, the company will not refill the stock after it goes out of stock.

If rumors are to be believed, Apple is coming out with the new 5K displays, which will probably get a new name. According to unconfirmed sources, the new display will be called as Apple 5K Display.

Dubbed to be shipped with an integrated GPU and a screen resolution of 5120×2880 pixels, Apple has decided to integrate a GPU into the display to make it future ready to enable new Thunderbolt Display to maintain compatibility with future Macs.

Moreover, it will also reduce the need of high resolution displays to be powered by high-performance computers featuring top-end GPUs.
