Xiaomi has launched the much-awaited Mi Max smartphone in Silver and Gold color variants. On the specifications front, the Mi Max features a massive and immersive 6.44-inch FHD display with a pixel density of 342PPI paired with a fingerprint sensor located on the rear side.
Commenting on the launch of Mi Max, Hugo Barra, CEO, Xiaomi revealed that the phablets will be the future and 5.5-inch displays have become a normal trend in India. He also announced the launch of Mi Maximus in 2017, although there is no information about the features and specifications.
In India, Xiaomi had launched the Mi Max in two variants. While the 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage paired with a 1.8GHz hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor costs Rs. 14999, the 4GB RAM coupled with 128GB internal storage and Snapdragon 652 processor is priced attractively at Rs. 19999.
Both models offer Adreno 510 graphics. It is also possible to expand the built-in storage up to 128GB.
While the Xiaomi Mi Max features a 16-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and LED flash, the front-facing snapper is equipped with a 5-megapixel sensor with 85-degree wide-angle view, and a f/2.0 aperture.
On the connectivity front, the dual-SIM handset offers 4G LTE with support for VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS with Glonass, and Wi-Fi 802.11ac with Mimo. A 4850mAh battery completes the package. With a thickness of 7.5mm and weight of 203 grams, the Mi Max features a hybrid SIM tray.
With a built-in infrared emitter, which acts as an universal remote control for TVs and Set-top boxes, the Mi Max features an ambient light sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, including proximity sensor.
Xiaomi also announced the launch of MIUI 8 with the first beta expected to arrive by the second week of July. The stable version will be made available on August 15. The MIUI 8 includes advanced features like scrolling screenshots, India specific ringtones and much more.
