Periscope gets better with autoplay, highlights and web embeds

Periscope, a live video streaming app from Twitter has recently been updated with features such as autoplay, highlights, and web embeds.

With Highlights, you will be able to automatically generate a small trailer, which will have interesting moments of a broadcast. Moreover, Periscope has updated the global feed and watch tab in such a way to enable viewers to view broadcasts in an immersive and large format. The live broadcasts enables automated playing of content without sound as soon as you launch the app.

As of now, the new autoplay feature is available only on Android platform. If you are an iOS user, you should wait for few more days to receive the update.

It is now possible to embed Periscope broadcasts in webpages to enable them to be watched worldwide including the ability to embeed an entire broadcast inside a broadcast.

Responding to media, Periscope CEO and co-founder Kayvon Beykpour revealed that the company has seen incredible growth during the past one year. It’s very hard to keep up with all the live content shared by Periscope broadcasters around the world. Hence, the app has been refreshed in such a way that automatically generated highlights of each broadcast can be easily watched. It is also easy for the publishers to embed broadcasts anywhere on the web be it webpages, Facebook or Twitter.

With 29.9MB capacity, the Periscope app is currently available in a number of languages such as English, Hindi, German, Japanese, Spanish, Arabic, Thai, Chinese and more. There are over 200 million broadcasts ever since its release.

It’s true that Periscope is smaller than YouTube but with the latest addition of new features, the app is trying is attract new users including celebrities.
