Lenovo pushed ahead on the 2nd spot in Indian smartphone market, says IDC


Lenovo has emerged as the second-biggest smartphone brand. According to IDC research report, Lenovo is way ahead of other major smartphone brands such as Apple, Micromax and Oppo in terms of value. The chinese smartphone major grabbed a market share of 9.1 percent.

Moreover, the market share in terms of units sold skyrocketed in Q2 2016. This makes it thr third largest smartphone brand in India with an overall market share of 7.7 percent. As per IDC’s report, both Motorola and Lenovo emerged as the number two player in Q2FY16. To recall, Lenovo had acquired Motorola in October 2015.

Lenovo captured 7.7 per cent of market share by units sold while the market grew by only 3.7 per cent. The company posted an overall growth of 24.5 percent over 2015.

Commenting on the development, Sudhin Mathur, Director-Smartphones, Lenovo India disclosed that this is a huge milestone, which has motivated and encouraged us further to go against all odds by creating meaningful and innovative products. Furthermore, the company also managed to design technologically-advanced products, which had enhanced ther consumer mobile experience.

Lenovo recently launched a series of smartphones such as K5 PLUS, ZUK Z1, Moto G4 Plus, and Moto X Play. At the recently held IFA 2016, Lenovo launched Lenovo Yoga 910 Convertible Laptop, Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus, Lenovo Yoga Book, Moto Z Play and Miix 510.
