Diwali was once a festival celebrated inside homes, offices and roads. The festival was conducted with sweets, crackers and new clothes. However, people still follow the tradition of purchasing new clothes and firing a wide range of crackers. Technology has changed with time. Hence, various online retailers are conducting big sale carnivals ahead of Diwali.
It all began with Amazon Great Indian Festival starting from October 1. It spanned over 5 days and products got sold like hot cakes. Unlike other companies, Amazon list all the products under lightning deals category. While some items are sold within hours, few other products never get sold. Sometimes, Amazon extend the deal to enable customers to buy the product they missed.
When people was busy searching on Amazon for their favourite products, home grown Flipkart joined the party on October 2 by launching its annual Flipkart Big Billion Days. There was a heavy buzz with Flipkart since the company is well known to provide discounts in the past.
According to industry analysts, e-commerce retailers in India are consolidating their business rather than focusing ondiscounts like in the past.
Surprisingly, Amazon again conducted Great Indian Festival from October 17 to 20. We inspected the deals and found that they sold the same products as they did during the previous sale.
Last week, Flipkart announced that they will be doing another round of festive deals tagged as Flipkart Big Diwali Sale from October 25 to 28. Interestingly, Amazon also entered into the foray and started to advertise that they will be running third round of Amazon Great Indian Festival from October 25 to 28.
It seems that both Flipkart and Amazon are clashing the online retail segment by throwing in offers. We feel that both companies are keeping a close watch on each other to launch new festive deals. From our point of view, Snapdeal will also be doing Unbox deals from October 25 to 28.
We have never seen this much aggressive business in the past. Last year, Flipkart Big Billion Days was followed by Amazon Great Indian Festival. We only saw one round of festve carnival in 2015.
This should be the last festive deal days of both Flipkart and Amazon. Going forward, you need not have to expect any carnivals like Great Indian Festival Sale. However, in December, you can expect another round of Flipkart Big Shopping Days and Amazon Great Indian Festival.
That being said, you have got a wonderful opportunity to grab valuable products at great prices in case if you had missed the previous deals.
