Reliance Jio has extended the free 4G data, voice and messaging services till March 2017. As part of the Jio Happy New Year Offer, all existing and new customers will be able to enjoy services till the end of March 31, 2017.
Previously, it was informed that the free offer will end on December 31 for those customers who purchase Jio 4G SIM on or before December 3. However, Reliance Jio cleverly launched a new offer, which will escape TRAI’s 90-day limit for free offers. Hence, if you purchase new Reliance Jio 4G SIM after December 3, you will be tagged under Jio Happy New Year package.
If you are an existing customer, you will be able to enjoy the free benefits from January 1. The catch is that the company has refreshed the fair usage policy by decreasing the daily usage limit from the existing 4GB to 1GB. Moreover, the download speed after 1GB will be capped to 128kbps.
Speaking before a wide audience, Ambani said that nearly 80 percent of the customers only make use of less than 1GB per day. Hence, decreasing the fair usage policy will enable the network to provide a fair share of network capacity.
As of writing this, Reliance Jio has over 52 million users. The company said that they have added 50 million customers in 83 days. The company is also planning to deploy JioMoney Merchant Solutions to spread awareness on digital payments.
He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the hard and bold stand taken by him to demonetize Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 currencies. Ambani said that JioWallet can be used for creation of a cashless payment system among both customers and merchants.
