Bluetooth 5 has been officially released with the capability of 2x speed and 4x range even on low-energy devices. According to reports, the Bluetooth 5, officially released by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) will be available to gadgets within a few months.

Bluetooth 5 features 2x speed than the currently available Bluetooth edition. Moreover, it offers 4x range over the previous counterparts. The initial reports states that Bluetooth 5 will be rolled out to the gadgets within the next 2 to 6 months.

Bluetooth 5 carries an increased bandwidth of up to 2Mbps and 8 times enhanced broadcasting message capacity. Moreover, these features will be applicable for smartphones running on low-energy mode.

These features will be useful for products such as Apple Watch or Android Wear smartwatches. This is because these products needs to be paired regularly with the phone to operate such as while checking emails, messages etc. The evolution of Bluetooth 5 will also enhance the use of a wide range of IoT gadgets.

Bluetooth 5 is designed in such a way to decrease interference between multiple gadgets. Even in homes, we now have 5 to 6 devices connecting wirelessly via both Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

As expected, Bluetooth 5 will be backwards compatible with previous generations of Bluetooth. Hence, all your existing phones, tablets and laptops will work without any interruption.

With over 30000 members, the Bluetooth SIG designs and develops the Bluetooth technology. You can expect the new technology to get integrated with the smartphones launched after Q2 2017.
