Pokemon Go launch confirmed in India via Reliance Jio on December 14

If cyclone hits Indian shores tomorrow, we are not responsible. This is because Pokemon Go will arrive in India on December 14 exclusively via Reliance Jio.

After grabbing 50 million Reliance Jio customers, the company has established a strategic partnership with Niantic, who is the publisher of the augmented-reality game. If you are in India, the game will be available from December 14.

As part of the partnership, nearly thousands of Reliance Digital Stores and other select retail chains will most likely turn into Pokestops and Pokestations. You will be able to find real Pokemon Go characters.

As a user, you will be able to locate exclusive Pokemon Go channel in JioChat. You can establish connections with other players but also level-up quickly.

Responding to media, John Hanke, Chief Executive Officer and founder, Niantic revealed that they are delighted to partner with Jio to launch Pokemon Go in India. Hanke added that they are excited to see Pokemon fans in India step out and explore their neighborhoods in search of Pokemon. They are sure that Jio’s disruptive high speed 4G LTE will be an awesome way to experience the game. He also said that nearly 50 million subscribers are making effective use of 4G LTE ia Reliance Jio.

Originally launched in July 2016, Pokemon Go is fast becoming a huge sensation with over 500 million downloads. The game virtually disrupted the Indian gaming scenario to a large extent.

Even though Pokemon Go ha not yet launched in India, people have already started to play the game by downloading the apk file from various sources on the web.

That being said, a Gujarat-based resident filed a lawsuit against the augmented-reality game by stating that it hurts the sentiments of people. This is because te game allegedly shows eggs in religious places such as temples.
