Huawei announced that the worldwide shipments of its flagship P9 and P9 Plus smartphones has crossed the 10 million mark. The company became the first in the world to hit the landmark milestone.
In a statement released to the press, Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) revealed that the dual-lens Huawei P9/P9 Plus devices were Huawei’s first flagship smartphones to be developed in partnership with Leica. Announced in April 2016, Leica is the legendary German camera brand.
The partnership with Leica has set new benchmarks in the smartphone camera segment. Moreover, the integration of Leica technology into the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus has delivered outstanding photography experiences to consumers.
Responding to media queries, Yu also revealed hat the company managed to ship nearly 34 million smartphones in Q3 2016, which is an increase of 23% from the previous year. Moreover, the middle to premium handsets has reached a market share of 44% when compared with the overall shipment.
