If you rewind back to 2014, you will know bout ZTE ZMAX smartphone sold exclusively via T-Mobile. The phone was launched with Android KitKat but never got updated to either Android Lollipop or Android Marshmallow. The ZTE ZMAX still ships with Android KitKat. However, T-Mobile users can rejoice since both ZTE and the mobile carrier have rolled out the November security update.
In May 2016, the ZTE ZMAX received an Android security update. The latest update is tagged as November security patch with a weight of 17MB. Moreover, the update is available as software version Z970V1.0.0B35. The update was released on November 16, 2016.
We expect there will not be an major updates in the release since the overall size of the update is only 17MB. Moreover, the official T-Mobile page doesn’t list the changes or modifications included with the update.
According to T-Mobile website, your phone should be charged 50% before installing the update. Moreover, you should not makeuse of the data connection. Instead, you should download and install Wi-Fi. However, you can also opt for data connectivity since the size of the November security update is only 17MB.
ZTE ZMAX will automatically download the update over the air (OTA). You need to tap Download from the message notification screen. You need to tap Install Now option. You should wait till your handset restarts and completes the update process.
