OnePlus has rolled out Android 7.0 Nougat-Based OxygenOS 4.0 Update for the flagship OnePlus 3 and the recently released OnePlus 3T. The update is available as OTA and will hit all users within the next few days.

According to OnePlus CEO Carl Pei, the stable release of OxygenOS 4.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat has started to roll out to users of OnePLus 3 and OnePlus 3T.

Dubbed as incremental, the latest Android 7.0 Nougat-Based OxygenOS 4.0 Update will be rolled out in phases. Hence, only a select group of users will receive it on the first day. However, the update will be available for all users within the next few days. We expect that by January end all OnePlus users will be able to receive the latest update.

The big disappointment is that the latest update is not based on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat but Android 7.0 Nougat. Some of the major features included with the latest update are shelf customisation, new notifications and settings design, multi-window view, support for direct reply of notifications, custom DPI support including the ability to pick status bar icons. After the installation of the update, you will be able to make use of Quick Launch in third-party apps.

According to OnePlus, the company will release simultaneous update for both OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T in the future. Moreover, the product team also announced the launch of Open Beta 1 for OnePlus 3T users. If you rewind back, you will know that OnePlus 3 users got the first Android Nougat beta build update in November 2016.

Before proceeding to update your OnePlus handsets, you should make sure that you are using a Wi-Fi connectivity and not mobile data.

While unveiling OnePlus 3T, the company had announced the arrival of the Android 7.0 Nougat update for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users before the end of 2016. The company had fulfilled its promise by offering the update by the start of January.
