LG has announced the launch of the 5.7-inch QHD+ (1440×2880 pixels) display with a pixel density of 564PPI alongside an aspect ratio of 18:9. According to reports, LG is the first company to integrate QHD+ resolution in the 5.7-inch display. Moreover, the LG G6, expected to release in 2017 will ship with the new display.
Moreover, the display has been designed in such a way to provide users with the immersive viewing experience. With a QHD+ 5.7-inch display, you will be able to work easily with multitasking or while working with dual-screen feature. We expect LG to make use of the new display with the upcoming LG G6.
Manufactured using inTouch technology, the display is more responsive to touch. Moreover, the frame of the smartphone looks thin due to lack of Touch Cover Glass.
Addressing media persons, LG Electronics Chief Technologist Skott Ahn said that the company is slowly moving away from the modular design with the forthcoming launch of LG G6 handset.
The outdoor visibility of the new 5.7-inch QHD+ display has been significantly improved due to a 10 percent increase in transmittance. In a statement released to the press, LG has claimed that the power consumption has been increased by up to 30 percent.
According to a report published in a leading Korean daily, the module of the display is less than 1mm thick. Moreover, the width of the bezel has been reduced by 20 percent at the top. On right and left sides, you will find a reduction of 10 percent when compared with the traditional QHD LCD displays.
Commenting on the launch, Byeong-koo Kim, senior vice president and head of mobile development Group 1 at LG Display disclosed the company expects to maximize user experience and customer value through the super high-quality display. The aspect ratio of 18:9 will set new benchmarks in the conventional display segment of smartphones.
If you look at the QHD LCD display integrated with the LG G5 smartphone, you will find that the resolution is 2560×1440 pixels. In the case of the new QHD+ display, the display resolution is pegged at 2880×1440 pixels. There are widespread rumors that the forthcoming LG G6 smartphone is expected to feature the new QHD+ display.
We expect smartphone manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Micromax will come forward to adopt the newly launched display.
