Android Wear 2.0 is expected to hit Google-powered smartwatches on February 9 alongside LG Sport and LG Watch Style smartwatches. According to popular tipster Evan Blass, the next release of the Android wearable platform will be rolled out by the second week of February.
Based on the information from the leaks, the Android Wear 2.0 provides an on-watch app store including an integrated keyboard. The new platform will also provide support for Android Pay and Google Assistant. Recently, Google introduced the assistant with Google Allo messaging app and Google Pixel smartphones.
You should note that the Android Wear 2.0 will not be available to all smartwatches. Previously, it has been confirmed that both the original Moto 360 and LG G watch will not receive any updates to the new version.
In addition to the Android Wear 2.0 update, LG will also launch two new smartwatches namely LG Sport and LG Watch Style loaded with the new version. On the technical side, both LG Sport and LG Watch Style will be equipped with circular OLED displays, 4GB storage. Moreover, the new LG watches will also feature a digital crown which is very similar to that of the Apple Watch.
The upcoming LG Sport smartwatch is expected to ship with a large display and battery in addition to enhanced RAM. The watch will also feature 4G LTE connectivity, NFC, GPS and an optical heart-rate sensor.
On the specifications segment, the LG Sport will feature a 1.38-inch display, 768MB RAM, 4GB storage, 430mAh battery with support for IP68. With a thickness of 14.2mm, the display will have a resolution of 480×480 pixels. We have doubts with the amount of RAM. This is because we have never heard of any gadgets with 768MB RAM.
LG Watch Style, meanwhile, will be equipped with a 1.2-inch display, 412MB RAM, 4GB RAM, 240mAh battery alongside IP67 rating. The watch bears a thickness of 10.8mm with a resolution of 360×360 pixels. It also provides support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The main purpose of Android Wear 2.0 is to revamp the wearable operating system completely. Moreover, the new version will be designed in such a way to make watches not to depend on smartphones.
