In a stunning development, six executives of Huawei has been arrested for reportedly leaking confidential internal information to its rival LeEco. The executives comprise of mid to top level executives who worked in the consumer business division. They have been charged with leaking sensitive internal information to LeEco. There are reports that arrested executives also comprise of product designers.
Even though the exact details of the information leaked out to LeEco is not clearly revealed, the arrested executives are said to be no longer working with the company at the time of their arrest.
Meanwhile, LeEco has revealed that they did not receive any critical information from the arrested executives. However, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer added that there are few patent disputes between both companies. The company also reportedly served a legal notice to Huawei.
The main reason for the dispute is attributed to the recently filed patent application by LeEco. The company had filed one patent for children’s smartwatch and another for an antenna design.
According to Huawei, LeEco has merely copied their designs to design the two upcoming products. It is being said that the arrested executives had revealed confidential product designs to LeEco. However, LeEco added that the arrested individuals did not carry any documents or drawing papers when they left the company.
That said, competition between two smartphone companies is a good idea, but it should be healthy. Moreover, executives should follow certain professional ethics while working. They can monitor the developments of other companies, but it should be carried out in a positive way.
