Sony Xperia X and X Compact gets better with January security update

Sony has rolled out January security update for the flagship Xperia X and X Compact smartphones. Tagged as build number 34.2.A.0.292, the latest update provides Android security fixes for the month of January. The latest January security update has been installed on a Sony Xperia handset bearing model number F5121.

The latest update is basically a security patch. We don’t have any information about the specific changes that are included with the update. We expect few bug fixes and enhancements. Meanwhile, the Xperia X units that are available as per Concept for Android program also got refreshed with the January update.

The disclaimer posted on the update page states that the existing user data will not be affected due to the installation of the new version. However, you are advised to capture the backup of your images, videos and other content for safety purposes.

Like in the case of all the previous OTA releases, it will take few days or you to receive the update. Alternatively, you can verify the existence of the update by navigating to the Settings menu.
