Sprint rolls out January security patch for Samsung Galaxy S5

Sprint has rolled out January security patch for the Samsung Galaxy S5. With Baseband version number G900PVPS3CQA2, the recently released update measures 27MB in weight. If you install the update, your handset will get the latest Android security fixes for the month of January.

Apart from the security patch and fixes, you will not find any other improvements or enhancements. Recently, Sprint rolled out an update to Samsung Galaxy S5 handsets as December security update.

It seems that Sprint is currently issuing monthly updates to simplify the download and installation process. While few carrier release updates once in six months, customers find it difficult to download it due to huge file size.

To avoid mobile data charges, you should activate Wi-Fi before the download and installation of the update. However, you can download via data network since the download size is small. Sprint is rolling out the January security patch in batches.

Hence, if you are unable to view the update notification, you will have to wait for few more days. Alternatively, you can manually verify for the update by tapping on the Settings icon.
