Google has announced the rollout of Android 7.1.2 Nougat public beta update to select smartphones such as Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 5X and Nexus Player. According to Google sources, the new Android Android version has ben released and is now available to premium handsets. However, the big confusion is that when the handsets will get the update.
When compared to Apple, the rollout of Android Nougat builds are very low because of the abundance of phones. In the case of Apple, the need to roll out updated only to few select iOS phones and tablets.
That said, the Android 7.1.2 Nougat build is an incremental release and will focus on improvements and bug fixes. You can also expect few feature enhancements on various modules. However, Google is not planning to roll out the update to all the Nexus phones. To obtain the update, you have to register for the Android beta program.
Initially, the Pixel and Pixel XL alongside the Pixel C, Nexus 5X, and Nexus Player will be eligible to receive the update. If you require Android 7.1.2 Nougat update for Nexus 6P, you will have to wait for some more time since the phone is tagged as Coming Soon without any estimated timeframe.
We don’t have any information about when Google will roll out the update for Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 handset. Even though the two phones got Android 7.1.1 update, it needs to be seen as to when Google will introduce Android 7.1.2 Nougat update.
