AT&T 5G Evolution mobile network expected to launch in Austin and Indianapolis

5G Evolution

AT&T is gearing up to deploy 5G Evolution mobile networks in Austin and Indianapolis in the United States. During a press conference on the sidelines of an event in San Francisco, the company has announced that it will roll out 5G networks in both Austin and Indianapolis

According to AT&T sources, the new mobile service will be named as 5G Evolution with speed up to 400Mbps. However, the announced speed is less than the rumored 1Gbps. Previously, it was widely reported that the 5G Evolution would carry a speed of 1Gbps. That said, 400Mbps is still a decent speed better than the current 4G network speeds.

Meanwhile, AT&T also added that the 5G connectivity would reach 1Gbps in so-called theoretical top speeds. Industry analysts are of the opinion that it will put mobile connectivity on par with fiber Internet.

Likely to be codenamed as Indigo, the AT&T 5G Evolution will make use of software enhancements and improvements in such a way to improve the functioning of the hardware. Moreover, the equipment used for 5G Evolution will be capable with substantially lower upgrade costs.
