If you are waiting for the Android security update for the month of February, you need not have to wait for a long time. According to Canadian carrier Telus, the February security update will be rolled out to Google Pixel, Pixel XL, and Nexus 6P from Monday onwards. If you have access to these smartphones, you will receive the required update from January 6 onwards.
Meanwhile, select BlackBerry handsets will also receive the relevant security update on February 6. That said, the BlackBerry Priv has already started to receive the February update.
On February 6, you can expect the arrival of the security update for BlackBerry Z30, BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry Leap, Nexus 6P, Google Pixel, and Google Pixel XL. Previously, the Telus had released the required security update for Motorola E, Motorola Z, Samsung G35 Neo, BlackBerry Q19, BlackBerry Classic, BlackBerry Passport, and BlackBerry DTEK50 smartphones.
Even though Telus has announced the arrival of the update in Canada, you can also expect the update to be available in other emerging markets. The main reason is attributed to the fact that the search engine giant directly controls updates for Google Pixel, Pixel XL, and Nexus 6P smartphones.
As soon as the update is available, you will view a message notification. However, the update will be delayed depending upon the region. Alternatively, you can manually verify the existence of the update by tapping the Settings icon. You should also make sure to download the update only via Wi-Fi to avoid data charges.
