Samsung tipped to use Galaxy S8+, confirms rumors

Samsung Galaxy S8

Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to launch at the upcoming MWC 2017. However, you can also expect a higher version of the Galaxy S8 similar to that of the Galaxy S7 Edge released in 2016. We had reported that Samsung would most likely launch a Plus version in 2017.

Evan Blass aka @evleaks took to Twitter and shared an image with the information that Samsung will launch Galaxy S8+ instead of Galaxy S8 Plus. If you look at iPhone 7, the premium model is referred to as iPhone 7 Plus. However, Samsung will not adopt a similar naming system with Galaxy S8. If rumors are to be believed, you can expect Galaxy S8+ in 2017.

To recall, Samsung had adopted an identical naming nomenclature with Galaxy S6 Edge+. However, the possibility of using this name is slim because of the dual-curved design. Hence, we only expect the name as Galaxy S8+ without Edge. Moreover, Samsung is adopting an approach to use a similar name as iPhone 7 to combat competition.

Based on the rumors and leaks, Samsung will not offer Galaxy S8 with a flat display. The addition of a dual-curved version in the Galaxy S8 will be the second device from the smartphone giant since the company has already released Galaxy Note 7 with a similar display. Interestingly, the Galaxy Note 7 is no longer available because the company has abandoned its production due to explosions and fire.

Coming to specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will carry a 5.7-inch display and the Galaxy S8+ model expected to bear a 6-inch display. Both models will have dual-curved edges coupled with really small bezels.
