Google App v6.13 to extend Google Assistant to non-Pixels smartphone

Google Assistant

Google Assistant is currently available only on the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. However, a new alpha build of the Google App v6.13 is expected to introduce Google Assistant support for non-Pixel smartphones. The update will be available only for users signed up for the beta program.

The assistant can be enabled by the app by pressing the Home button instead of Now on Tap button. We expect the integration of Google Assistant with either Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (Android 6.0.1) or a Nexus 6P running Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Since there is no official confirmation, you should accept the fact only with a pinch of salt.

Meanwhile, the upcoming version of the Google app integrates payment information with Assistant. Hence, you can make use of the Google Assistant to pay for products on malls.

Furthermore, Google App v6.13 provides support for recent search page including a lite mode. At the time of writing, the Google App v6.13 is available only via APK. Hence, you should completely read the instructions because of potential security implications.
