Microsoft Surface Phone with Intel Kaby Lake and 8GB RAM expected to unveil at MWC 2017

Microsoft Surface Phone

Microsoft Surface Phone is expected to unveil Intel Kaby Lake processor alongside 8GB RAM at MWC 2017. However, the phone will be available for purchase only by the end of 2017 or 2018. The main reason for the delay is attributed to the slow production of the handsets.

Expected to bear a flexible body, the Microsoft Surface Phone will look identical to that of the Samsung Galaxy X. We have seen several rumors surrounding Surface Phone for the past several months. There were reports that the Surface Phone will be released in January.

According to rumors, Microsoft is gearing up to release three variants of the Surface Phone smartphone. In addition to a 5.7-inch model, the upcoming Surface Phone will also be available in 5.5-inch and 6-inch display models.

There are few sources which state that all variants of the Microsoft Surface Phone will carry a 5.7-inch display. The difference will be that of the RAM and internal storage capacity.

Under the hood, the Microsoft Surface Phone will be most likely powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor. However, the premium model will ship with Intel Kaby Lake processor. Touted as a seventh-generation chipset, the Kaby Lake carries a 200-series processor to provide an enhanced clock speed when required.

While the 3GB RAM will be integrated with a 32GB internal storage, the 6GB RAM model will reportedly carry a 128GB storage. Regarding the rumored premium version, you can expect a massive 8GB RAM alongside 500GB internal storage.

The Snapdragon 835 is also not bad since it will have 40 percent lower power consumption coupled with 27 percent enhanced performance. To recall, Microsoft and Qualcomm had announced a partnership to integrate Windows 10 desktop experience to mobile devices. Hence, the upcoming Surface Pro 5 will surely carry either Intel Kaby Lake or Snapdragon 835 processor.

While the rear camera will be equipped with a 21MP sensor, the front-facing shooter will feature an 8MP sensor. A 3000mAh battery supplies power for the handset. In a statement released to the press, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella disclosed that the smartphone will set new benchmarks and will stand out among other smartphones.

Nadella revealed that the company is gearing up to integrate structural innovation for the upcoming Surface Phone, which will help in the management, productivity, and security. Recently, the Redmond-based tech company filed a patent application for a flexible hinge and display. There are reports that this feature could surface in the forthcoming Surface Phone.
