WhatsApp rumored to integrate Snapchat-centric Stories feature

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature to enable users to exchange images and videos that will automatically disappear after 25 hours. For instance, if you publish a video at 2 PM, the video will be deleted the next day around 2 PM. The rumored feature is similar o that of Stories feature introduced in Snapchat.

WABetaInfo took to Twitter and shared an image of the rumored feature. Initially, the Stories-type feature will be rolled out on iOS followed by Android. The message on the tweet reads as “Status introduction text updated in WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.17.4+ with Orange colored highlighted mode.

Upon inspection of the leaked image, we could infer that the feature will be made available through the Privacy settings. There were unconfirmed reports that the new media-centric feature has been in existence since November 2016. In the past, Facebook had made an attempt to borrow few features from Snapchat.

In 2016, WhatsApp rolled out several new features such as advanced editing capabilities and video calling. We expect the Facebook-owned company to introduce several new improved features in the upcoming days.
