If rumors are to be believed, Xiaomi is gearing up to launch a new smartphone named Mi 5C. However, a report published on DigiTimes signals the fact that the Chinese-based smartphone major is planning to integrate an exclusive in-house developed processor.
Based on the report obtained by Economic Daily News (EDN), the report states that the upcoming Mi 5C smartphone will be powered by Pipecone V670 processor. Xiaomi has designed and developed the new processor in China exclusively for Mi 5C. As per the reports, the new Pipecone V670 processor will launch in March.
As of this writing, Xiaomi makes use of either Qualcomm Snapdragon or Helio processor for premium flagship smartphones. The handsets manufactured in India under Make in India initiative are integrated with Snapdragon processor.
If Xiaomi ships the rumored Mi 5C with an exclusive processor, then it will be the second smartphone manufacturer after Huawei. However, if you need to test drive the smartphone with Pipecone V670 processor in India, then it will take a long time.
The chances of the new processor finding the way in the upcoming smartphones in Indian Shores is very bleak since the company will always integrate Snapdragon processors due to patent-related issues.
We will continue to monitor the developments surrounding the new Pipecone V670 processor. Stay tuned with NetAns.
