Xiaomi launches MIUI 8 Android Nougat testing for select smartphones

Xiaomi recently launched Redmi Note 4. During the launch event, Hugo Barra, the then Global Vice President of the company had informed that the company is gearing up to roll out Android Nougat update for the handset. Xiaomi is now inviting passionate community members to join their beta testing process.

In addition to Redmi Note 4, the MIUI 8 Android Nougat update is also rolled out for Mi 5 and Mi Max smartphones. If you would like to become a member of the beta testing team, you should have access to the smartphones for which the update is rolled out.

Xiaomi will only accept applications from members who own the devices. This is because you need to install the bits and provide feedback. However, you need to flash the device with the latest update before sending your application. You will find the relevant download links on the official Mi Community page.

To apply, you need to navigate to the URL mentioned in the Source section and reply to few questions. First, you need to inform them why you need to become a beta tester in a decent and descriptive tone. Furthermore, you should navigate to Settings | About Phone section of your smartphone, capture a screenshot using the quick ball feature and publish it along with your reply.

You should make sure to apply before February 20. The beta testing team will be announced on February 25. The main benefit of joining MIUI 8 Android Nougat is that you will receive special OTA update permission. You will also receive MIUI 8 beta tester title including MIUI 8 medal.
