Xiaomi has rolled out MIUI 8.2 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with new features and enhancements. According to reports, Xiaomi Mi Max, Xiaomi Mi Max Prime, Xiaomi Mi 4i, Xiaomi Mi 3, Xiaomi Mi 4, Xiaomi Mi Note, Xiaomi Redmi 1S and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G are expected to get the new update.
In the newly launched MIUI 8.2 update, Xiaomi has improved the notification toggles. You will find that the toggles fit in the notification shade accurately by adjusting the UI. Moreover, Xiaomi has also provided an ability to add the battery saver toggle to the notification shade in MIUI 8.2.
With MIUI 8.2, it is now possible to swipe to remove notifications from your lock display. Hence, if you find any unwanted message on the lock screen, you can just swipe to delete them. Xiaomi has also modified the icons for USB charging and switching keyboards. Moreover, the floating notifications will not appear on your smartphone after you update to the latest release.
When it comes to bug fixing, Xiaomi has resolved an issue associated with the notification shade during incoming calls. Xiaomi also addressed bugs related to third-party themes. You should note that the latest MIUI 8.2 update will not be available to Xiaomi Mi 5, Xiaomi Mi 5s, Xiaomi Mi Note 2 and Xiaomi Mi MIX flagship smartphones.
We don’t have any information as to why Xiaomi has left out flagship smartphones from receiving the MIUI 8.2 update. However, we can infer that Xiaomi is gearing up to roll out Android 7.0 Nougat update in the upcoming months and the new features will be included with the Nougat upgrade.
We had reported that the Android Nougat update would be rolled out select smartphones on a beta mode. The company has started to accept applications from fans who are interested to test drive the new build. However, you require access to the select smartphones to install and provide feedback to the product team.
As in the past, the MIUI 8.2 update will be available via OTA. Hence, if you are not interested in waiting for a long time, you can either manually check for the presence of the update or download ROM for your relevant smartphone.
