Mi India took to twitter and shared the information that the entire Xiaomi family is proud of the elevation of Manu. In addition to VP role, he will also discharge the duties of the Managing Director, Xiaomi India. Previously with the online retailer Jabong, Manu joined Xiaomi in June 2014.

To recall, Hugo Barra left Xiaomi in January after the launch of Redmi Note 4 to return to Silicon Valley. He served as Global VP for a period of three and a half years and is currently serving as Vice President of Virtual Reality. His work will be to drive the future of Oculus and the upcoming technologies.
Even though Manu accompanied Barra to launch events in India, it was Barra who stolen the show during the events. His resignation was a big blow to the prospects of Xiaomi particularly in countries like India. However, Manu will now work together with Mi India team to drive the upcoming products and smart devices in India. He is a well-known face among Mi Fans and his appointment is a step in right direction.
