ZTE Hawkeye Project CSX smartphone Kickstarter campaign cancelled

In a sudden development, ZTE has cancelled the Kickstarter campaign for the Hawkeye smartphone that was introduced by the company in January 2017.

The official Kickstarter landing page has displayed the information that the funding has been cancelled. According to internal company sources, the campaign has been canceled to integrate higher specifications based on latest technological trends.

At the time of cancellation, the ZTE Hawkeye Kickstarter campaign got 190 backers and reached $36,245 out of the overall $500,000 goal. Meanwhile, ZTE has confirmed that the project is not yet over. The company is currently redesigning the specifications for the ZTE Hawkeye aka Project CSX idea.

Moreover, the Hawkeye smartphone also ships with a unique eye-tracking feature with self-adhesive backing. The company also added that the new feature will be integrated based on the feedback from the community.

Recently, ZTE has confirmed that the decision to integrate eye-tracking feature with self-adhesive backing on a budget phone has not met the expectations from the investors. The company is unable to convince the backers about the real purpose of the feature.

Priced at $199, the company will provide refunds for all prospective customers who paid money and backed the project. Based on the news from the rumor mills, ZTE is gearing up to implement the hands-free feature on an upcoming smartphone. However, we don’t have any information about the estimated availability time.
