Xiaomi is reportedly working on two budget smartphones under the Redmi 5 banner. The specifications and images of the upcoming rumored Xiaomi Redmi 5 have leaked on Chinese certification site TENAA via Weibo.
With model numbers MAE136 and MBE6A5, the smartphones ship with a 4000mAh battery, 13MP rear camera sensor alongside 5MP front-facing shooter. While Xiaomi MAE136 has been dubbed as Redmi 5, the MBE6A5 could be another variant of the Redmi 5 handset. The TENAA listing reveals the presence of two SIM cards coupled with a fingerprint sensor on the rear.
On the specifications front, the smartphone tagged with MAE136 will feature a 5-inch HD display, an octa-core processor, 3GB RAM alongside 32GB internal storage. The smartphone will be loaded with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. We also expect Xiaomi to infuse Android Nougat since the company is currently inviting beta testers. You will be able to expand the storage up to 127GB via microSD card.
In addition to the 4G LTE, the MAE136 will also provide support for Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi, GPS and a standard microSD port. The handset will also include sensors for measuring Gravity, Light, and Distance.
With a weight of 150 grams, the handset measures 8.65mm in thickness. Based on the TENAA listing, the smartphone will be available in gold, rose gold, matte black, and dark grey color variants.
Xiaomi MBE6A5, meanwhile, will be equipped with a 5.5-inch FHD display, a deca-core processor, 3GB RAM, 64GB internal storage loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The handset will provide an ability to extend the storage up to 32GB.
Like in the MAE136, the bigger variant also provide support for all standard connectivity features and sensors. Expected to be available in gold and silver grey color options, the phone will measure 170 grams in weight with a thickness of 8.35mm.
