Huawei has launched Watch 2 and Watch 2 Classic with 4G LTE support at MWC 2017. The main attraction of the smartwatch is the addition of mobile connectivity alongside Android Pay support.
Loaded with Android Wear 2.0 OS, the Huawei Watch 2 will be available starting at EUR 329. To begin with, the smartwatch will be available in more than 20 countries starting from March. In addition to 4G LTE, the Huawei Watch 2 also provides support for NFC, Android Pay, GPS, and heart rate sensors.
While the Huawei Watch 2 features a plastic outing, the Huawei Watch 2 Classic is equipped with a metal chassis. Moreover, the company will also introduce a Wi-Fi only model for the Watch 2.
On the specifications front, both Huawei Watch 2 and Classic is equipped with a 1.2-inch circular display. Our first impression is that the display panel is thick and bulky than the previous counterpart. The smartwatch is powered by a 420mAh battery, which will have a capability to provide backup for two days.
According to Huawei, the smartwatches also provides support for low power mode with the ability to view only the time and counting steps. Hence, you will be able to make use of the Watch 2 for up to 25 days.
Huawei Watch 2 also includes a microphone and speaker with two dedicated buttons. The Watch 2 series also provides support for dust and water resistant features via IP68. Moreover, you will be able to interchange the straps. The classic variant provides support for a hybrid strap with a leather top coupled with a rubber interior to prevent wear and tear due to sweat.
If you buy Huawei Watch 2 series, you will be able to access Fit program, which offers a customized training based on your schedule, goal and current fitness. Initially, the smartwatches will be available in Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Germany, and China starting March 2017 followed by over 20 markets including India in April 2017. During the launch event, Huawei also announced the launch of a Porsche designed Watch 2 in the upcoming future.
