Google Assistant will be available for Android Marshmallow and Android Nougat with immediate effect. During the pre MWC meet, the search engine giant had promised that the availability of the Assistant. However, no specific time frame was given except the information that it will launch before the end of February 3.
Touted as an upgrade to Google Now, the Google Assistant provides the capability to perform work such as reminders, capturing photos, translations, providing directions, operating smart home devices and much more. The main reason for the development of the voice assistant is that the who ecosystem is connected with each other. Hence, you can integrate Google Assistant with Google Home, smartphones, Android Wear, tablets and other devices. For example, you can work with Google Home from within Google Assistant.
The beauty of Google Assistant is that you can work with the same interface in all the devices. Hence, the learning curve is simplified. The assistant will be able to understand natural speech. Hence, the more you work with the tool, the faster it will learn. With the big push of the assistant to Android Marshmallow and Nougat, you can expect a huge spike in the apps since the Android platform consists of a vast number of developers.
You should note that Google Assistant will only work if you are running a unforked version of Android Marshmallow and Nougat. You will be able to download the assistant from Google Play Store upon its availability.
