HTC U Ultra smartphone is currently available in India exclusively on the official HTC e-commerce store in Sapphire Blue and Brilliant Black color variants. Launched in January 2017, the HTC U Ultra is available for Rs. 59990 for the 64GB internal storage option. If you would like to purchase a premium HTC smartphone, you can purchase the handset. However, we are concerned about the price factor.
Even though the HTC U Ultra ships with premium specifications, the cost of the handset cannot be justified because the phone is a non-flagship. It remains to been as to how HTC will drive sales of the handset when there are several competing handsets in the market with similar features at low cost.
Premium earphones bundled with HTC U Ultra
The highlight of HTC U Ultra is the addition of the HTC USonic earphones along with the product package. HTC has done a good job in this segment but the cost of Rs. 59990 is not at all justified. The high cost for the HTC U Ultra in India is mainly attributed to the addition of advanced display, camera, and audio capabilities.
HTC U Ultra features a secondary display
Talking about the specifications, the HTC U Ultra features a 5.7-inch QHD Dual Super LCD 5 display with a pixel density of 513PPI. Moreover, the device ships with a secondary 2-inch display.
While the 64GB ships with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection with a curved edge, the 128GB variant is designed using Sapphire Glass coating. However, the company is only selling the 64GB storage option. We don’t have any information as to when the 128GB model will be available for sale.
HTC U Ultra internals
Under the hood, the HTC U Ultra is equipped with a Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB expandable hybrid storage loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat. We would recommend HTC to embed 6GB RAM to compensate for the massive price.
The rear camera offers a 12MP sensor coupled with f/1.8 aperture, while the front-facing snapper bears a 16MP sensor. You will be able to capture accurate and crystal clear selfies using the high capacity sensor on the front.
A 3000mAh battery alongside extreme power saving mode supplies adequate backup for the device. HTC has boosted the audio capability by integrating power technologies. In addition to HTC U Sonic, the handset provides support for 3D Audio Recording with four microphones with noise cancelation. Moreover, the phone is bundled with the HTC Sense Companion AI assistant.
Recently, the phone was made available in the UK for GBP 649.99. The company is also gearing up to launch the handset in Australia within the next few days.
