Google Nexus 6 March security update spoils Android Pay

Nowadays, smartphone manufacturers have been releasing security updates every month. Although the trend is a good practice, it will also do harm if proper quality control measures are not adopted.

The March security update rolled out to Google Nexus 6 has caused tremors with the Android Pay app tripping due to bad bugs. After the installation of the security update, the Nexus 6 Reddit users have started to report that they are unable to work with Android Pay.

Meanwhile, Google has reportedly confirmed the problem to a user on Twitter. The company disclosed that they are deeply investigating the code behind the update bits. If Google finds any truth in the revelations, then the appropriate product team will take corrective measures by rolling out another update in the upcoming days.

After widespread complaints from users, the search engine giant has reportedly pulled out the update. The company has disabled the rollout of the SafetyNet API. However, the factory image and OTA file for the March security update have been uploaded again. According to company sources, the core problem is with the API, which was affected by the March security update including Android Pay.

The recent issue gives a strong message that Google is not performing stringent testing of updates before rolling out the bits to general public. It remains to be seen as to how much time Google will take to resolve the issue.
