HTC is rolling out Android Nougat update for HTC One A9 smartphone for users based in Europe. With software version 2.17.401.2, the latest update is tagged version 7.0 for the Android. Hence, if you have access to HTC One A8, you will be eligible to get the Android Nougat update.
In addition to Android Nougat, the latest update also includes security patches for the month of February. If you install the update, your handset will be protected against all the latest security threats.
Like with all the previous updates, HTC has pushed the Android Nougat update in Europe via OTA. It will take few days for your device to receive the required message notification.
If you are unable to view a notification, you can manually verify the presence of the update by tapping Settings | About device | System updates and by selecting Check for Updates option.
Before proceeding to install the update, you should backup the data from your phone and free up to 1GB of space. Moreover, you should completely charge the battery. Since the update is that of Android Nougat, the size of the download will be larger than periodic monthly updates. We would suggest you charge the phone completely to avoid problems during the update process.
To recall, the Android Nougat update for the HTC One A9 smartphone is already available in USA and Taiwan.
