AT&T Introduces March Security Update For Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S5

AT&T has started to push March security update for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S5 smartphones via OTA. According to reports, the US-based mobile carrier has begun to roll out March security update for the handsets in a phased manner.

If you have access to the two smartphones under AT&T, you will be eligible to receive the update in the form of a message notification. You need to tap on the notification to download and install the update. While Samsung Galaxy S6 is tagged with G920AUCS6DQC1 as the build number, the Galaxy S5 bears G900AUCS4DQC1 as the baseband version.

If you look at the Samsung Galaxy S6, the update is coming to the handset with model number G920A loaded with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. With Kernel version 3.10.61-9462607, the build number of the March security update is MMB29K.G920AUCS6DQC1. However, you need to install the previous version with build number G920AUCU5DQB3 to install the latest March security update.

Samsung Galaxy S6

When it comes to Samsung Galaxy S5, the update is rolling out to the device bearing model number G900A loaded with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. With Kernel version 3.4.0-9723602, the build number of the update is MMB29M.G900AUCS4DQC1. However, you need to install the previous version, which bears the version number G900AUCU4DQB1.

Samsung Galaxy S5

While the file size of the March security update is 14.4MB for the Galaxy S6, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has a slightly higher update file which is 20MB.

Before starting the update process, you need to establish connectivity with the Wi-Fi and also charge the device up to 60 percent for a smooth update process. The device will reboot after the installation. Hence, you need to wait for some time for the entire update process to complete.

After the installation, your phone will be updated with the March security patch, which is very vital for the smooth operation of your device. If you work with the handset on a daily basis, you need to stay protected by installing periodic updates.

AT&T is rolling out the update in a phased manner, and hence it will take few days for the new update to hit your handset. You can also manually verify the presence of the update by tapping Settings icon.

You should note that the Galaxy S6 will refresh with Android Nougat update. Moreover, the AT&T has also rolled out the March security update for the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones.
