Huawei Mate 9 Loaded With Android O Test Build Surfaces

Huawei has reportedly started to internally test Android O on the Mate 9 smartphone. According to reports, the testing process is being carried out using the latest release of Android O.

Huawei is also testing a new EMUI version based on Android O. The relevant screenshot featuring the content of the new version has been leaked on the web. The About Phone page of the Huawei Mate 9 loaded with Android O has allegedly leaked on XDA Developers site.

With build number MHA-AL00C00B007-log, the device name is stated as MHA with model number MHA-AL00. Moreover, the EMUI version has been stated as 5.1. Interestingly, the Android version and IMEI number have been masked as you can see from the below image. Hence, you can infer that the leaked image is that of the Mate 9 loaded with Android O. The rumor assumes importance since the MHA denotes Huawei Mate 9.

Meanwhile, another image of the Mate 9 has been leaked, which showcases few icons on the home screen along with YouTube video. We can see phone dialer and contacts app. On the top, you can spot the time, which is stated as 5.21 with the date embedded as April 11. You can click on the option captioned “Touch to add city” to provide the name of your city.

Based on the information available, the test build is an early build version and will have bugs. We expect the company to release a stable build after addressing the bugs. If rumors are to be believed, Huawei will be the first company to upgrade to Android O.

Huawei has pre-rooted the test build and has incorporated features such as a Files app and developer options. However, the build has missed several features, which is normal for a test build.

You should accept the above images only with a pinch of salt because there is no official confirmation. Moreover, you will not find Android O anywhere on the image except our guess. If you verify the above image, you can spot the Picture-in-Picture mode, which is only available on Android O.

As of this writing, we don’t have any information as to when Huawei is planning to roll out Android O for not only Mate 9 but also to other smartphones. We expect the update to first hit Huawei Mate 9 followed by other handsets. We will keep track of the developments and provide regular updates.
