Andy Rubins Essential Smartphone Surfaces on GFXBench

The specifications of the Essential smartphone designed and developed by Andy Rubins has been leaked on GFXBench. With the surfacing of the smartphone on the GFXBench, you can expect an imminent release of the smartphone. According to GFXBench, the rumored smartphone ships with Android FIH Edition on top of Android 7.0 Nougat and has been tagged with model number FIH-PM1.

Based on the available information, the Essential signifies the name of Andy Rubin’s new startup. However, FIH stands for Foxconn International Holdings, which has been entrusted with the responsibility to manufacture the smartphone for the company.

If you verify the GFXBench listing, you will see that the upcoming smartphone will ship with a Qualcomm octa-core processor, which runs at 2.2GHz. We infer that the processor could be Snapdragon 835. When it comes to the graphics, the Essential smartphone will ship with Adreno 540 processor.

The display specifications provided by GFXBench is mind-blowing. The benchmarking website states the presence of an 18-inch display with a resolution of 2560×1312 pixels. The display panel provides support for five-finger gesture support. The 18-inch display for an Android smartphone will not be a reality since the maximum display size for a mainstream laptop is only 15.6-inch display.

The smartphone will carry 4GB RAM coupled with 16GB internal storage. However, the GFXBench states that the phone will offer 3.6GB RAM alongside 10GB internal storage. That said, the GFXBench information will not reveal the complete parameters.

While the rear camera will be equipped with a 12MP sensor paired with support for 4K videos, the front-facing shooter comes with 7MP sensor alongside support for 4K videos. We infer that the camera specifications are trimmed in GFXBench since the phone will likely offer 13MP rear sensor and 8MP selfie camera. The smartphone will be loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat.

In addition to standard sensors such as an accelerometer, the Essential handset also provides support for barometer, Bluetooth, GPS, gyroscope, lightsensor, NFC, pedometer, proximity, and Wi-Fi. You should note that the phone listed on the GFXBench site is only based on a prototype.

You can expect the release of Essential smartphone by the middle of 2017. Hence, you can expect the launch in August. If rumors are to be believed, Rubins is also involved in the development of accessories such as headphones, Bluetooth speakers along with the handset.
