Verizon has pushed an update via OTA for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones with new features and improvements. While the update for the Samsung Galaxy S8 is dubbed with software version G950USQU1AQD9, the Galaxy S8+ update is tagged with version G955USQU1AQD9.

Interestingly, the update versions for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are beginning with G950U and G955U instead of G950V and G955V. Recently, T-Mobile also rolled out an update beginning with the same version numbers.

In addition to the latest security patch, the update also provides resolves minor issues associated with the handsets including various software-related improvements. After the installation of the update, your device will have an improved user experience due to the optimizations included with the bits.

Samsung Galaxy S8 series make use of bezel-less Infinity Display. The latest update provides an ability to leverage the full benefits of the new display ratio, which is 16.74:9.

If you are using the normal screen swiping route to answer phone calls, you can ignore that after installing the update. You will be able to make use of the Volume Up button to attend to the phone conversations. Moreover, the camera icon has been refreshed to make it compatible with the other stock apps. Furthermore, the notification badges feature the same color, which is less confusing.

The update is rolled out via OTA. Hence, it will take few days for the update message notification to appear on your phone. You can also manually verify the presence of the update by tapping the Settings icon.

In case if you view the update message, you should charge the phone to up to 80 percent to avoid interruptions. Moreover, you should establish connectivity with Wi-Fi and disable mobile data. However, if you are using unlimited connectivity such as Reliance Jio 4G, you can install the update via mobile data since the entire process will be faster than the conventional Wi-Fi.
