Google has started to rollout May security update for Google Pixel and Nexus smartphones. If you work with either Google Pixel or Nexus, yo should verify the presence of the update. If you install the update, your phone will be updated with May security updates. Moreover, the update also provides fixes to several bugs reported by users including addressing of critical security vulnerabilities.
The update fixes a highly critical vulnerability that helps hackers to execute remote code via email and web browsing. Hence, if you work with Google Pixel, Pixel XL or Nexus, you should install the update.
If you think that you need to wait for a long time to receive the update notification, you are wrong. Google has provided a facility to install the update via a factory image that can be manually downloaded. You can install the May security update after downloading the file.
Interestingly, both Verizon and Deutsche Telekom have pushed the update with build numbers N2G47T(Pixel XL) and NHG47L(Pixel). The unlocked devices offered by other providers are getting the update with the build version number N2G47O.
Meanwhile, the search-engine giant has started to invoke the May security update based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat for the Pixel C and other related smartphones.
You should make sure to charge the Google Pixel and Nexus handsets up to 90 percent. Moreover, you should activate Wi-Fi before downloading the update. If you are not interested to manually download the updates, you can wait till you receive an update message notification.
