If you look at the Samsung Galaxy S8, the aspect ratio is 18.5:9. The forehead and the Jaw have been completely removed. Moreover, the physical navigation buttons located on the front side are also removed. If you inspect the phone, you will be able to infer than nearly 84 percent display ratio is housed on the top of the handset.
According to sources, UMIDIGI will unveil a new smartphone with an aspect ratio of 18:9 by the end of 2017. The company has released a production prototype of the rumored upcoming handset and showcased it alongside Samsung Galaxy S8+. We are unable to see any bezels on the left and right sides.
UMIDIGI also released a display prototype of the new handset and it looks completely transparent and gorgeous.
We have seen traditional LCD, AMOLED, OLED displays. The bezel-less display will set new benchmarks in the smartphone display segment. However, the smartphone companies will incur additional costs for procuring the display panel in bulk. Furthermore, the cost of servicing will be more than smartphones with normal displays.
LG and Samsung made a huge climb towards the beginning of 2017 by introducing bezel-less display. The main purpose of the bezel-less display is that manufacturers are able to integrate a large display on a smartphone between 5 and 5.5-inches.
Even though there are problems with the supply chain, smartphone companies such as UMIDIGI have managed to integrate cutting-edge features at an affordable price. If the price is huge like Samsung Galaxy S8, then budget conscious users will not purchase. If UMIDIGI manages to release a bezel-less display at a cost below $300, then it will surely create a tidal wave.
The company sources have confirmed to us that the production team is all set to adopt bezel-less technology in 2017. That said, you should accept the facts only with a pinch of salt. UMIDIGI have themselves confirmed the launch of a new smartphone with the bezel-less display. Hence, we can expect something bigger before the end of 2017.
