Samsung has pushed April security update for the Galaxy S5 Mini, Galaxy On7 (2015) and Galaxy S Duos 3 smartphones. The update is being rolled out via OTA. Hence, it will take few days for the new update to hit your handsets. If you work with any of the devices, you will receive an update message notification. You have to proceed as per the instructions displayed on the display.
While the build number for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini is tagged as G800FXXU1CQD1, the update for the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 3 in available via build number G316HUDDS0AQD1. If you look at the Galaxy On7 (2015), the update is being made available via build number G600FYXXU1BQC6.
In addition to the regular security patches, the update also fixes several bugs that are reported by users. If you install the April security update, the stability and performance of your Android platform will be improved to a great extent. You will experience smooth operation after the installation of the update.
Even though the update is being pushed via OTA, it will take few days to hit you handset depending upon the region. Alternatively, you can verify the presence of the update manually by tapping Settings icon. You need to select System updates option from the About device.
Before proceeding to download the update, you need to charge the handset up to 90 percent to avoid interruption during usage. Moreover, you should establish connectivity with Wi-Fi to avoid excess mobile data charges. You can also make use of 4G mobile connectivity since the size of the update will be lesser than the full blown Android Nougat update.
