OnePlus 5

OnePlus 5 expected to ship with Snapdragon 835 processor and front fingerprint scanner

OnePlus is gearing up to release the flagship OnePlus 5 within the next few days. The company has decided to abandon OnePlus 4 since the number “4” is considered as unlucky in China. According to the latest reports, the OnePlus 5 will be equipped with Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with a fingerprint sensor on the front.

The integration of Snapdragon 835 processor in OnePlus 5 is not a rumor because OnePlus founder Liu Zuotu took to Weibo and shared the information. Meanwhile, the Chinese unit of Qualcomm has also confirmed the presence of Snapdragon 835 processor on the upcoming OnePlus 5.

If you look at the Snapdragon 835 processor, the chipset has already been available in the Galaxy S8, Mi6, and Sony Xperia XZ Premium. There are reports that Nubia Z17 will join the 835 party soon. The integration of Snapdragon 835 onto OnePlus 5 will add new dimensions to the smartphone segment because of low power saving features.

In addition to Snapdragon 835, the rumored OnePlus 5 will also be equipped with a fingerprint scanner on the front. Regarding the naming of the phone, few sources reported that it could be renamed as OnePlus 45 but it is now almost certain that OnePlus 5 will become a reality.

Even though OnePlus 5 will ship with 6GB RAM, there are widespread rumors that the premium variant will carry 8GB RAM. With the confirmation of the processor by the founder on Weibo, it is almost certain that the launch of the phone will ake place before the end of July.

OnePlus will also bump up the internal storage to 256GB and also bear dual rear camera. Moreover, the smartphone will be manufactured using a combination of ceramic and metal. Hence, you can expect a robust build quality when compared to previous counterparts. The company is also gearing up to increase the battery capacity to 3600mAh to compete with other smartphones.

We will continue to keep track of the developments. Stay tuned with Netans.
