OnePlus 5 will be launched within the next few days. However, the company already announced that they will discontinue the flagship OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. There are reports that the company had already initiated steps to stop the production. If the devices are discontinued, then will the customers get the required updates such as the upcoming Android O.
Pete Lau, founder, and CEO of OnePlus took to Twitter and shared the information that OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will receive Android O updates. He posted that he is proud to share this message since many people have been continuously asking for the same.
A lot of you have been asking, so I’m proud to say Android O will come to OnePlus 3 and 3T.

When it comes to the estimated time frame, there is no proper disclosure. However, we expect the devices to receive Android O updates by the end of December 2017.
There are several things that need to be done before pushing the update to OnePlus handsets. Google will have to release Android O and introduce the features. After that, the company will officially launch the upcoming Pixel handset loaded with Android O. You can expect OnePlus to roll out the update in a phased manner starting with the beta. Hence, it will take at least another 7 to 8 months.
To recall, the company quickly pushed the update to Android Nougat in 2016. We expect OnePlus to follow the same trend in 2017 as well. However, the upcoming Pixel devices will be the first to ship with Android O.
You should note that the company hasn’t pushed Android Nougat update for the OnePlus 2 smartphone. It is highly unlikely that the handset will receive Android O. The company will probably dump OnePlus 2 after the launch of OnePlus 5.
If you are unaware, OnePlus 5 will feature a super high-resolution display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. We will continue to keep track of the developments.
