Motorola has rolled out the much-anticipated Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for the Moto X Play smartphone. In addition to Android 7.1.1 Nougat, the update pushed to Moto X Play includes Google Duo app, stability improvements, and security related enhancement.
If you install the update, you will be able to experience several improvements such as enhanced multitasking, better notification controls including an efficient power saving features via Doze mode.
Moreover, the Google Duo is a one-to-one video calling app, which is designed to be not only simple but also reliable and fun. Even though you can install Google Duo separately, the update brings in the app to enable you to work immediately.
The update also includes several bug fixes and May security update. The stability of your handset will be improved after the installation of the update. Interestingly, the company skipped the Android 7.0 Nougat to pave way for Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Hence, the investment made by the customers will not be wasted.
Before proceeding to download the update, you should establish connectivity with Wi-Fi to avoid interruption. It is to be noted that a full blown Android Nougat update measures over 1.5GB. Hence, you should make sure to free up over 2GB storage space.
You should also completely charge the handset up to 100 percent based on the size of the update. It will take at least 30 minutes for the update to download and install on your device.
If you have access to Moto X Play, you will view a message notification, which prompts you to install the update. If you are unable to view any notification, you can manually check for the presence of the update by navigating to Settings icon.
