AT&T Samsung Galaxy Express 3 gets better with May security update

AT&T has pushed May security patch for the Samsung Galaxy Express 3 smartphone. With build number J120AUCS3AQE1, the update has been rolled out via OTA. Hence, it will take few days for the update to reflect on the handset. If your device is eligible, you will view a message notification prompting you to install the update. Interestingly, the US-based mobile carrier has directly skipped the April patch and introduced May security update.

With kernel version 3.10.9-7662162, the build number of the May security update is tagged as MMB29K.J120AUCS3AQE1. You will be able to install the update easily because the size of the update is 29.56MB. The latest update is made available for Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

According to the AT&T support page, the May security patch comes with Android device security updates. The patch includes updates to several security vulnerabilities including fixes to bugs reported by users. After the installation of the update, you can expect enhanced performance and improvements to your device.

Before proceeding to download the update, you should establish connectivity with Wi-Fi and charge the handset to 80 percent to avoid interruption. The size of the update is only 29.56MB. Hence, you need not have to charge completely. Even if your handset is charged 40 percent, you will be able to easily install the update.

If you are unable to view a message notification, you can manually check for the presence of the update by tapping Settings icon. You should select Software Updates option from About tab.
