Verizon has pushed the latest security update for the LG G4 and LG V10 smartphones. The company is currently rolling out the patches via OTA. Hence, it will take few days for the update to hit your handsets. If you are eligible, you will view a message notification, which prompts you to install the update.
With software version VS9862BA, the update for LG G4 installs the latest security patch. It includes bug fixes and enhancements.
When it comes to the LG V10, the update is being pushed as software version VS99028A and includes the same security patches as LG G4.
If you install the update, you will be doing it on top of Android Marshmallow. However, LG has confirmed the roll out of Android Nougat within the next few months. We don’t have any estimated timeline for the availability of the update.
Before proceeding to download the update, you should activate Wi-Fi to avoid data loss. Moreover, you should charge the handset up to 90 percent to avoid interruption. The company has advised users to charge completely but it is not necessary because the update is not a full blown Android Nougat.
If you are unable to view the update message notification, you should manually verify the existence of the update by tapping Settings icon.
